Our story
How Jarrett & Kara came to Harris Florist
In 2024, Jarrett met the love of his life, Kara. They married in 2025 and began a shared journey of restoring historic buildings throughout Harrisburg — one project at a time. For Jarrett, the work is a return to his roots as a third-generation carpenter. His longtime motto, "If you can dream it, we can build it," now extends naturally into the world of floral design.
Kara brings her own passion for history, particularly historic architecture and old bridges. Together, they immediately connected with the history and character of the Paxtang florist shop and greenhouse at 2900 Greenwood Street, just a few blocks from Derry Street. They believe they were called to help preserve this special place, restore the property, and return it to its former glory.
Today, Harris Florist and Greenhouse offers more than 17,000 square feet of floral and design space, along with wedding and special-event consultations, gardens, and greenhouses. Every day, our friendly team works to create floral arrangements that help people celebrate, remember, encourage, and connect with one another.

Carrying forward a legacy since 1912
We are honored to carry forward a floral tradition that dates back to 1912. We are especially proud to continue the legacy established by Patsy and Jack Snyder, who owned the property and floral business beginning in 1977.
For us, being a florist is about more than flowers. It is about people. It is the smile when someone receives an unexpected arrangement. It is helping a family honor someone they love. It is celebrating a wedding, birthday, anniversary, new beginning, or milestone. And sometimes, it is simply providing a little encouragement when someone needs a pick-me-up.
